RRR is a 2022 Indian Telugu-language epic action drama film directed by S. S. Rajamouli, who co-wrote the film with V. Vijayendra Prasad. It was produced byD. DVD Entertainment of V.V. Danayya. The film stars NT Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgan, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Don't Put It On, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris. It centers around two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao), their friendship and their fight against the British Raj. Set in the 1920s, the film tells a Every Second History story that explores the unwritten period in their lives when the two revolutionaries chose to fade into oblivion before starting to fight for their country.
Rajamouli saw stories about the lives of Rama Raju and Bhima and connected the coincidences between them, imagining what would have happened if they had met and become friends. The film was formally announced in March 2018. Principal photography of the film began in November 2018 in Hyderabad and continued through August 2021, delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was extensively shot in India, with some sequences shot in Ukraine and Bulgaria. The film's soundtrack and background score were composed by M M Keeravani, with cinematography by KK Senthil Kumar and editing by Sri Ramprasad.Sabu Cyril while the film's production designer heavy. Made on a budget of ₹550 crore ($72 million), RRR is the costliest Indian film to date. The film was initially scheduled for theatrical release on 30 July 2020, which was postponed several times due to production delays and the COVID pandemic. RRR was released theatrically on 25 March 2022. With ₹240 crore (US$30 million) worldwide on the first day, RRR recorded the highest opening-day earnings by an Indian film. It emerged as the highest-grossing film in its home market of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, grossing over ₹415 crore (US$52 million).[6] The film grossed ₹1,200–1,258 crore worldwide, Set several box office records for an Indian film, including the third highest-grossing Indian film and the second highest-grossing Telugu film worldwide.[4][7]
RRR received universal acclaim for Rajamouli's direction, writing, performances (especially Rama Rao and Charan), soundtrack, action sequences, cinematography, editing and visual effects. Among other accolades, RRR became the third Indian film and the first Telugu film to receive a nomination at the Golden Globe Awards, for Best Foreign Language Film, and won Best Original Song for "Naatu Naatu", the first Asian nomination to win the award. Plot
In 1920, during the British Raj, administration Scott Buxton and his wife Catherine go to a forest in Adilabad, where they abduct Malli, a young girl with a talent for artistry, from the Chinta tribe. Enraged by the act, Komaram Bhima, the patriarch of the tribe, sets off for Delhi with the intention of rescuing her in the guise of a Muslim man named Akhtar. Elsewhere, the Nizamate of Hyderabad, sympathizing with Raj, warns Scott's office of impending danger. Junkyard enlists the aid of Katherine. Rama Raju, an ambitious officer in the Indian Imperial Police to quell the threat. Starting their new assignment, Raju and his uncle, Venkateswara K, attend several pro-independence meetings in the hope of getting clues. Their opinions attract the attention of Bhima's naive ally Lachhu.
Due to Raju's cunning, he attempts to involve him in Bhima's plot, only to escape when his true identity is revealed to him. After a while, both Bhima and Raju meet each other; Unaware of their opposing identities and intentions, they unite to save a boy from a train accident, sparking a friendship between the two. With time both come closer to each other. Raju later helps Bhima hook up with Scott's niece, Jenny, who is unaware of his intention to infiltrate Scott's residence. When Jenny takes Bhima to her residence, Bhima finds the room where Malli is being held captive; He meets Malli and promises Malli that he will free her. Meanwhile, Raju discovers Lachhu's secret identity and whereabouts; He later catches her. While interrogating him, Lachhu indulges in attacking the abandoned krait Raju; He then warns her about her impending fate and that the antidote is known only to the Gonds.
Dazed, Raju approaches Bhima, who immediately attends to him. Noticing similar religious characteristics between Lachhu and Bhima, Raju discovers their true intentions. Even though, Bhima reveals his tribal identity and his mission, he is still unaware of Raju's secret identity. At an event held in Scott's honour, Bheem's men break into his residence with a lorry loaded with wild animals, which cause mayhem among the assembled guests. The animals kill Scott's guards, allowing Bhima to fight briefly; However, Raju arrives and later reveals Scott's intention to kill Malli; He surrenders out of obligation. After the incident, Raju is promoted for failing Bheem, yet, he is consumed with guilt over his own actions, his own nationalist background and his actual transformation as a mole within the police- remembering the ego; He was seeking a promotion to gain access to a shipment of guns to be smuggled into his village.
At Bheem's public flogging, Raju attempts to persuade him to reconsider his actions; The former chooses to whip instead. Feigning his injuries, Bhima sings in defiance, which incites an assembled crowd to revolt. The riot further enlightens Raju, who finally realizes the recklessness of his actions. Determined to save his friend, he persuades Scott to kill Bhima in secret, while preparing an ambush to rescue him; Nevertheless, Scott hatches his plot. Raju is seriously injured while rescuing Malli from Scott's men. Bheem, who had simultaneously managed to free himself, mistakenly interprets Raju's actions as an attempt to kill Malli; He bites her before running off with her. Months later, Bhima, who had fled with Malli to the Hatharas, is cornered by the colonial authorities; He is saved from being exposed when Sita, Raju's fiancée, repels them by claiming a smallpox epidemic under the pretext.
Unaware of Bhima's identity, she reveals Raju's true, anti-colonial motives and his impending execution. Realizing his folly, Bhima vows to save her. With the help of a sympathetic Jenny, Bheem infiltrates the barracks where Raju is detained and frees him, alerting several soldiers in the process. Defeating them, the pair retreat to a nearby forest, where they destroy more soldiers with the use of a bow taken from a Striking shrine. Taking the fight to Scott, the pair hurl a burning motorcycle into the barracks magazine, which consequently ignites. The subsequent explosion killed several people within Scott's company, including Catherine. After finally capturing a wounded Scott, Raju gives Bhima an English rifle, fulfilling their respective objectives. They later steal a cache of Scott's weapons, later reuniting with Sita and Jenny.
In honor of completing their respective missions, Raju asks Bhima to let him fulfill his wish, upon which, Bhima asks Raju to provide education to him and his community.
